The Pro Bono Clearinghouse program of the Greater Richmond Bar Foundation recently made its 500th match.  The program, which has been in operation since 2001, matches nonprofit organizations needing legal assistance with volunteer attorneys.

Triangle Center for Development contacted the Pro Bono Clearinghouse asking for an attorney to help them develop a Memorandum of Understanding.  Triangle Center is partnering with the City of Petersburg to develop educational opportunities, by using existing historical assets and features of the community.  The hope is that this new economic development program will create jobs while fostering historical education within the Tri-Cities, surrounding counties and the state of Virginia.

Johnson Kanady III, one of the Clearinghouse program’s 175 volunteers, agreed to take on this project.  Mr. Kanady of Kanady & Quinn P.C. has been volunteering through the Pro Bono Clearinghouse since the program began in 2001.  He has worked with 14 nonprofit organizations during that time with issues ranging from forming nonprofit corporations to real estate transactions and mergers.
