About GRBF

The Greater Richmond Bar Foundation serves the public and legal profession by supporting, facilitating and promoting the delivery of pro bono legal services for non-profit organizations through the Pro Bono Clearinghouse, by providing financial support to others in greater Richmond who provide pro bono legal services, and by involvement in and sponsorship of law-related educational and service projects that encourage public understanding of, participation in and access to our justice system.

Anne D. McDougall, Vice President

An attorney with Freed & Shepherd, P.C., Anne McDougall served as an adjunct professor at VCU’s Especially for Nonprofits program. She serves on the Board of Trustees of Randolph-Macon College, the Board of Regents of James Monroe Law Office Museum and Memorial Library, and the board of directors of The Carver Promise, Hanover Safe Place and Assisting Families of Inmates.

A partner in Harrell & Chambliss, Gerald Carter’s practice includes business/tax, estate planning, real estate and creditors rights matters.  He is also a certified public accountant and an adjunct professor with the University of Richmond School of Law.

Chris Malone serves as president and managing director of Thompson & McMullan law firm and is active in a number of charitable organizations in the greater Richmond area devoted to homeless services. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Heart of Virginia Council of the Boy Scouts of America, as well as a number of other organizations.

Leslie Haley is the Assistant Ethics Counsel with the Virginia State bar.  She authors and lectures on matters related to legal ethics, lawyer advertising and unauthorized practice of law.  Leslie is the Immediate Past-President of the Metropolitan Richmond Women’s Bar Association.

An Assistant Attorney General and Deputy Counsel to the Attorney General of Virginia, Courtney Malveaux has taught Forensic Evidence at the Virginia Commonwealth University, and now teaches Law Skills at the University of Richmond School of Law.  Courtney is the Immediate Past President of the Hill-Tucker Bar Association and is the Vice Chairman of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Living History and Public Policy Center.
