STOP EVICTION

The Supreme Court of Virginia has extended the Judicial Emergency Order through March 9, 2022 (Thirty-Fifth Modified, updated February 10, 2022).  All prior orders can be viewed here.  Local courts have slightly different policies in place to address this situation.  Guidance for court hearings, filings, and procedures vary by jurisdiction.  As of present, the Richmond General District Court has reopened for in-person, non-emergency matters.

Soon, a veritable tsunami of cases will be hitting the courts.  Help is still needed!  The Eviction Diversion Program is still remotely assisting tenants and landlords with payment plans and rental assistance in an effort to thwart an ever-growing backlog.  If you have time (even just an hour or two) to assist this critical program, please sign up on JusticeServer and contact Hannah Brechlin, Eviction Diversion Program Manager, at edp@grbf.org.  We will connect you to the case details, provide instructions/trainings, and payment plan templates.  Any help is immensely appreciated!  Please be advised that the Richmond General District Court has updated its COVID-19 procedures (see second and third notice).
