About Lawyerpalooza:

Lawyerpalooza started back in 2002 as a fun way to network & invigorate some life into the legal community, showcasing lawyers’ non-legal abilities, & to raise funds to help expand access to legal services.  One unique aspect of this event is the collaboration between our community partners, sponsors, volunteers, & friends, who all have graciously donated their time, space, & money in support of our cause.  Lawyerpalooza continued in 2003 & 2005, then, after a long hiatus, was revived in 2019 & has been going strong since, even being forced to go virtual for 2020’s show.  Last year, we raised $18,797.72 for legal aid services.  Co-Chair attorneys Tommy Bishop & Steve Mutnick return this year, who will surely make this the best ‘palooza to date!

Band Lineup:

Max Power

Max Power is a cover band for anyone looking to have fun.  Specializing in fun & upbeat music from all genres, including songs from current artists such as Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Billie Eilish, alternative artists like Jimmy Eat World, Weezer, Bare Naked Ladies, O.A.R., Dave Matthews, 90’s hits by N*Sync, Young MC, Third Eye Blind, Counting Crows, 80’s hits by Michael Jackson, Journey, Def Leppard, classic rock favorites such as Jimi Hendrix & The Marshall Tucker Band, & country artists including Darius Rucker and the Zac Brown Band, just to name a few of the many artists covered.

Fevered Train

Fevered Train is a group of musicians from Richmond, Virginia.  The group was originally formed with guitarists Ali John Amirshahi & Greg Layton playing originals & rock covers.  The rhythm section has gone through transitions & different variations.  Current drummer B Skala was unavailable for this show, so the Train added fellow lawyer Wayne Morgan to handle the drums with long-time Richmond bass man Keith MacPhee, who also plays with the Tin Can Fish Band.  Greg plays acoustic guitar, & Ali plays electric, & both of them sing with Keith adding harmony vocals.  In addition to original material, Fevered Train covers material by The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, & many other classic rock & blues icons & more modern stuff by Cracker & Amos Lee.

McVizzy is a Richmond, VA, band specializing in original rock music.  Current members are James Bruno (also an IP lawyer), Aaron Israel, & Paul Sprenkle.

About our Lawyerpalooza Co-Chairs:

Tommy Bishop is a guitarist from Richmond.  He entered the legal profession after a decade-long career as a Spanish teacher (he still answers to “Señor”), earning his J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law in 2018.  He also holds a B.A. from VCU & a Master’s in Education from the University of Richmond.  Tommy lives in Lakeside with his wife, who dutifully puts up with his squealing electric guitar at all hours of the day and night.

Steve Mutnick practices primarily in the areas of criminal, traffic defense, & as private counsel in civil cases, including custody & visitation.  Steve regularly practices in the counties of Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover, Richmond City, Powhatan, & other jurisdictions in central Virginia.  He is certified by the Indigent Defense Commission as defense counsel for misdemeanors, juveniles, & felony cases.  Steve regularly represents those accused of serious criminal matters.  Steve entered private practice in 2013 after serving as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for five & one-half years.
