About Lawyerpalooza:

Lawyerpalooza started in 2002 as a fun way to network & invigorate some life into the legal community, showcasing lawyers’ non-legal abilities, & to raise funds to help expand access to legal services.  One unique aspect of this event is the collaboration between our community partners, sponsors, volunteers, & friends, who all have graciously donated their time, space, & money in support of our cause.  Lawyerpalooza continued in 2003 & 2005, then, after a long hiatus, was revived in 2019 & has been going strong since even being forced to go virtual for 2020’s show.  Last year, we raised $23,539.04 for Legal Aid services.  Tommy Bishop returns this year, joined by newcomer Peter Askin as Co-Chairs, to make this best ‘palooza to date!

About our Lawyerpalooza Co-Chairs:

Tommy Bishop is an attorney in solo practice and a guitarist from Richmond.  He entered the legal profession after a decade-long career as a Spanish teacher (he still answers to “Señor”), earning his J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law in 2018.  He also holds a B.A. from VCU & a Master’s in Education from the University of Richmond.  His practice covers a wide range of legal areas, including immigration, traffic/criminal, and Civil Rights restoration.  Tommy lives in Lakeside with his wife, who dutifully puts up with his squealing electric guitar at all hours of the day and night.

Peter Askin is a Richmond attorney at ThompsonMcMullan with local roots and a Litigation practice bolstered by trial and appellate experience.  He grew up in North Side’s Ginter Park & attended the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School.  “… Richmond has so much to offer, and I always knew I’d build my career here,” Peter said.  Peter plays in two bands and has a passion for music alongside his legal career.
