Expanding Access Through Technology
After productive conversations with clerks and judges, we’ve been granted permission to set up an EDP table in the 2nd floor courthouse lobby during high volume eviction dockets. Even better, volunteers and staff are now cleared to use digital devices on site! A major change from past restrictions and a big win for access and effectiveness.
We’re exploring the creation of an AI-powered chatbot to support those navigating eviction. This tool will guide users to their recommended local resources based on their situation. The goal is to reach people earlier and to simplify access to help.
A Smarter Screening Process
New Courthouse Tech
Thanks to the pro bono work of Troutman Pepper Locke, we now have newly developed, logic-enhanced Eligibility Screening and Case Intake forms. This will help volunteers and staff quickly assess eligibility, saving valuable time for everyone. Thank you again, Troutman Pepper Locke!
Capital One has generously donated Chromebooks for volunteer use at the courthouse. These will host the new Eligibility Screening Form and function as kiosks during high volume dockets. This digital process replaces the pen and paper method and helps us serve more people more efficiently. Thank you, Capital One!
